  • March 7, 8,9 -- Canoecopia
    Visit us at our show booth at Rutabaga’s Annual Paddling Event at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. Try on the new whitewater kayak models and plan your summer of kayaking. Check out all eye candy for paddlers!
     
  • April 15 -- Target reopening date
     
  • April 26-27 -- Marge Cline & Ray McClain Memorial Spring River Races
    This Slalom Race will be part of the Buttercup series this year, and all kayakers are welcome to try in this fun citizen race. We will also hold Downriver race on Sunday from Herbs Landing to Gilmores. Pick up some new gear at our opener Store sale and stay for the fun at the new Bear Paw Pub. A portion of the proceeds and raffle will go to the Marge Cline Foundation for youth kayak programs. Bear Paw will also award a kayak scholarship to attend our youth kayak clinic in late July.
     
  • May 16,17,18 -- Swiftwater Rescue Technician Unit with Guest instructor Sam Drevo from eNRG Kayaking.
    (SRT1) - NFPA compliant SRT1
    is an intensive three-day, 24- to 30-hour class. It has one day of classroom instruction followed by two days developing and practicing water rescue skills. The initial emphasis is on self-rescue skills. The course also covers water dynamics, handling hazards and obstacles, using basic rescue equipment, setting up technical rope systems, controlling in-water contact rescues, and much more. Information from this course is applicable to anyone confronted with potential water rescue, as well as, the possibility of self-rescue. Price: $350.00.
     
  • May 17 -- Slide Show and Film Fest hosted by Sam Drevo
    When he is not out traveling the world in pursuit of first or last descents and documenting them on film, you can find Sam Drevo in the Northwest teaching kayaking. As owner and operator of Northwest River Guides LLC, dba eNRG Kayaking, Sam builds his curriculum off of twenty years of paddling experience. He brings with him a rich foundation based on years of training on the Potomac River in Washington D.C. He is an avid adventure traveler, photographer and film-maker. This show will inspire and excite you. Cost $10
     
  • May 17-18 -- Alumni Spring River Cruise Tune-up
    Join Bear Paw instructors on an early season river cruise. Shake the dust off your paddle and start the season right. We will start this Wolf River Section 3 cruise at 9:00 a.m. This is a great opportunity to try a new boat out. Lunch and shuttle are included. Prerequisite: Prior attendance in a Bear Paw whitewater 101 clinic, or equivalent. $70 includes boat.
     
  • May 19-22 -- American Canoe Association Instructor Certification with Guest instructor Sam Drevo from eNRG Kayaking
    This is the most comprehensive kayak course on the market today, and eNRG Kayaking has innovated the curriculum. This 40-hour course is focused on the latest technical knowledge, terminology, teaching skills, personal paddling skills, and safety awareness in a swiftwater environment.
    Price: $500 + $65 membership to ACA and SEI
     
  • June 7 -- Twister Anniversary and Grand Opening
    River Cruises, Mountain Bike Rides, Store Sale and Party! Book your camping or lodging now for this reunion.
     
  • June 14 -- Nicolet-Roche Trail Work Day and Mountain Bike Ride
    Volunteering can be fun! The Nicolet-Roche Trail system took a beating with the 2007 tornado damage. . Spend the day clearing trails, but it won’t be all work. We will take some time for a fun ride, and a fun gathering at days end.
     
  • July 18-19-20 – Women’s Whitewater Festival at Bear Paw
    Join us again for this awesome Festival for women paddlers. This will certainly ignite your spirit for kayaking. Guest pro paddler Anna Lesvesque of Girls at Play along with other accomplished female instructors will offer clinics on everything from beginning kayaking, river running and rolling, to play paddling and creeking. Other clinics will include yoga and outfitting and gear tips. Cost $130 without gear/$170 with gear
     
  • July 30, 31, Aug 1 -- Youth Kayaking Clinic
    Kids love water and kayaking! Give them the chance to get started right with this great entry to the world of rivers. Fun and safety are top priority for our instructors in this exciting course. We will spend time on the lake getting comfortable in the boats, and then take it to the river to practice boat control. Enjoy learning new skills, having fun in the kayaks, and making new friends. Minimum age: 8-14 $275
     
  • August 30-31 -- Bearstock 2nd Annual Music Festival Weekend
    This fun music filled event started in 2007 when our great friends got together played music and had a pig roast with the proceeds benefiting the rebuilding of Bear Paw. It was so much fun and the music was so fantastic, Musicians Dave Tronnier and Boyd Lee decided to get together and make it better than ever. Mark your calendars and details on the event will be posted soon.
     
  • September 19-20-21 -- Estrogen Equinox
    This annual women’s weekend is filled with adventure, fun and rejuvenation. Kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, and relaxation along with crafts and camaraderie round out this very popular weekend. Great for mothers, daughters, friends and sisters. 3 days $125
     
  • October 11 -- Biketoberfest
    Tour the many mountain bike trails and roadways over the weekend of peak colors. We will host a variety of rides, and a race with a twist. Fee $20 includes snacks and tee shirt.
     
  • November 1 -- Halloween Food and Foto’s and Film Party
    Don your costume, and bring your summer amateur photos and film of your summer boating adventures. Prizes for best film and best costume.
